Transport & Installation of Ophir Wellhead Platform

Project Scope:

Marine Masters assisted SPT Offshore with the preparations and execution scope related to the Transport and Installation of the Ophir wellhead platform located offshore Peninsular Malaysia.

The 1100Mt suction pile-based jacket and 350Mt topside were fabricated at Muhibbah yard in the period 2016/2017. The jacket was transported horizontally on a barge. Upon arrival, the jacket was lifted by 3200Mt HLV Asian Hercules II, upended, and installed within 2 days. Subsequently, the topside was transported on a separate barge and installed by the AH2 straight after jacket installation.

The use of suction pile technology reduces offshore installation works hence potential weather downtime drastically. A suction pile-based platform is storm safe and ready for drilling within approx. 3 days,  compared to approx. 3 weeks for traditionally piled platforms.
